More data for contract and PAYG customers as well as DfE partnership

Virgin Media is offering free data and programming to its customers during the current national lockdown.

Virgin Mobile, like BTThree and O2, is collaborating with the Department for Education’s Get Help with Tech programme, offering an additional 20GB of mobile data per month to families that require the connectivity for their children to take part in online lessons.

The provider’s MVNO is also set to zero-rate certain learning resources, starting with Oak National Academy.

Until the end of March, vulnerable customers on Virgin Mobile Pay As You Go contracts can claim an extra 500 minutes, 500 texts, and 1GB of extra data every month for no extra cost.

Additionally, pay monthly customers can receive unlimited minutes and 10GB additional data every month for free.

TV and broadband

Virgin has also made several factual pay TV channels available at no extra cost for Virgin TV customers, including Animal Planet HD, Crime+Investigation HD, Discovery Science, Eurosport 1 and 2 HD, and Sky History.

Additionally, customers with the Documentaries Personal Pick or Mix bundle can also access Sky Documentaries and Sky Nature.

Virgin has also extended free access to its Hopster app, an ad-free educational app for younger children.

Meanwhile, customers on Universal Credit can apply for Virgin’s Essential broadband, which costs £15 per month for  a 15Mbps connection with no fixed-term contract length or price changes.
