Super rare Iron Man Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is pricier than a luxury Jaguar sports car

The Iron Man version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has Marvel fanatics drooling, but the device’s rarity (it was limited to 1,000 units upon launch) makes it very hard to get hold of.

It’s so rare that one has just sold for $91,000 (about £58,000), which costs more than most Jaguar XF saloons.

That ridiculous price isn’t surprising. The device, which is based on the Marvel Comics superhero, has created quite a stir in Asia after its release in Korea on May 27 and that device. A unique serial number of 66 added to that outrageous sale, which was made at an auction in China.

The number 6 in China is considered a very lucky number, which makes model number 66 ‘double lucky’ or twice as likely to give its owner good fortune. Red and gold are also considered to represent luxury, which are Iron Man and the limited edition device’s colours.

Iron Man S6 edge on eBay

Many who purchased the handset in Korea have put them up for sale on eBay. The average asking price on the auction website is around $4,550 (£2,967), which is outrageous even when compared to the regular S6 edge’s £760 price tag.

eBay may be the only place to buy the limited edition device if you live outside of Asia. Samsung confirmed that it will be sold in China and Hong Kong later this month, but mentioned no other markets.

If you ignore the Iron Man theme, the handset is identical to the regular S6 edge. It packs a 5.1-inch, dual-edge 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD display with a 16-megapixel, OIS-enhanced primary camera and 3GB of RAM.
