Popular puzzle game Threes has just announced that they are going dropping the purchase cost and going free, presumably in an effort to close the gap on their competitors.

The simple puzzle game has paved the way for many clones in its lifetime, which is part of the reason why it enjoyed such a successful run. It’s deceptively challenging mechanics are incredibly addictive yet easy to copy. It’s a simple case of sliding numbered tiles across a 16-slot board and combining twin numbers to rack up the highest score possible.

Having released on almost every platform you can think of including the Xbox One, the app was quickly reaching is saturation limit and needed something special to lure in fresh customers. Hopefully, this marketing ploy manages to come off for them
