Those of you anxiously awaiting Apple Pay’s UK launch may soon be able to relax. A possible launch date has been revealed weeks after Apple announced at Worldwide Developers Conference that its contactless payment system is hitting the UK.

According to 9to5Mac, some Apple Store employees in the UK have been told that July 14 could be the release date. Training for the contactless payment system will be reportedly given to Apple Store employees on July 12.

9to5Mac also managed to get internal memos from supermarket chain Waitrose. These memos reportedly say that Apple Pay will go live in stores on the 14th July.

Apple Pay contactless payments

Contactless payments allow those with contactless debit or credit cards to pay for goods with just a tap of their card. Contactless payments are currently capped at £20 per transaction, but the limit will be increased to £30 in September.

Barclaycard recently launched its own contactless system in the form of three wearables; a sticker, a key fob and a wristband.

Apple Pay is currently compatible on the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch.
