Instagram adding HD photos to servers (and you might have them)

Facebook is rolling out a new update to the image resolutions within their popular photography application Instagram.

Instagram has today begun storing images at a much higher resolution than before. Previously, the maximum resolution of files was 640 x 640 pixels but they are now available at a much higher 1080 x 1080 pixels.

Users have been unable to view them in the updated resolution and people were left wondering if the feature was simply a back end update with a later release date in the works. However Facebook Product PR Alex Hollander has now confirmed that the new resolution is rolling out to Android and iOS devices as we speak.

It may take a little while to see the updated resolution on your device, so just give it a little time.
