Were there times that you forgot iPhone passcode? And if it ever happened, you might have already been familiar with the message saying your device is disabled whenever you incorrectly input your password several times. This message is somehow irritating and worse than that, worrying. You may wonder if there is a way to unlock iPhone without password in case you forgot the iPhone passcode.

In this article, we will discuss certain ways on how to unlock iPhone without password in the event you forgot iPhone passcode.  Take note that you need a computer to follow the steps on how to unlock iPhone when you forgot iPhone passcode.

Fix your Forgotten Passcode by Erasing Your Data

Sounds harsh? Well, it may sound a little bit like that, but that’s one effective way to fix your iPhone. Simply erase all the data on your iPhone then restore it from your backup, that is, if you have a backup.

Once you erase all the data, it would also erase the passcode and from there, you can set up your iPhone again with a new passcode. Though this may sound exorbitant, from the security viewpoint, this one makes sense.

The only problem here is that it erases all the data on your iPhone. And as mentioned, this should not be a problem if you have a backup of the data to restore onto your iPhone.

Restore via iCloud

If you have enabled Find My iPhone on your iPhone, you can certainly erase all the data on your device through a web browser. Though this would certainly erase all your data from your iPhone, you can still restore them from an iCloud backup if you have.

Ways on how to unlock iPhone via Find My iPhone.

  • On a computer, go to iCloud.com
  • Log in using your Apple ID
  • Click “Find iPhone”
  • Check the map for your iPhone and then click it.
  • Click erase phone

Your iPhone will now be reset to its factory setting.

If your iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes

If you cannot erase via iCloud, or you have not enabled find My iPhone, you can also try by connecting to iTunes.

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and later versions – Press the Side button and one of the volume buttons until the power off slider appears on the screen. Drag it to turn your device off. While holding the Side button, connect to your computer. Keep on holding until you see the recovery-mode screen.

iPad touch, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus – Turn off your device. While holding down the Volume button, connect to your computer. Keep on holding until you see the recovery-mode screen.

iPad with Home button, iPhone 6s or earlier model and iPad touch 6th generation or earlier – Turn off your iPhone. While holding to the Home button, connect your iPhone to your computer. Keep on holding it until you see the recovery-mode screen.

If you have properly done that, iTunes should be able to inform you that there is a problem with the device that requires to be updated or restored.

When this prompt appears, click “Restore” and your device will start erasing all your settings and content.

You can restore your data from an iCloud backup or you can go through the IOS setup process and set up your iPhone as new. Whichever you choose, you can set a new passcode for your device.

After being restored and your iPhone turns back, most probably you’ll be presented with an Activation Lock screen – either on the Mac or personal computer that you’ve used in performing the restoration. You will then be required to enter your Apple ID and password to have access to your iPhone.
