Sony have released a pair of images via Twitter, teasing the upcoming Xperia Z1 Honami smartphone ahead of its launch at the IFA conference in Berlin, Germany, this September.

In a series of tweets beginning yesterday Sony has released two images, the first of which features the iconic power button you’ll recognise from the Xperia Z. The tweets also included the hashtag #bestofsony, a nod to the fact that this handset will be the first to use specialist hardware from other divisions of the company such as screen technology based on Sony’s TVs, audio equipment based on their experience as a hifi and walkman manufacturer and sensor technology taken from the company’s dedicated digital cameras.

The second image highlights the waterproof case the Honami will sport, with an image of the handset apparently being dropped into water. This follows the trend for waterproofing that we’ve seen recently with Sony’s flagship devices.

The Honami is rumoured to be equipped with a 20 megapixel camera, a quad core processor and 2GB of RAM, along with a 5 inch display, with a full spec sheet having been leaked online in July.
