Smash hit app Temple Run to become a game?

If you’re reading the title and thinking “what”, that’s exactly our reaction to this story too — but it’s true, the producer behind such films as Harry Potter wants to bring Temple Run to the big screen. Of course it’s not yet a done deal, with a report from the Hollywood Reporter claiming that Warner Bros. is currently considering a film adaptation, with David Heyman at the helm as a producer.

Of course we could see Temple Run becoming a film, after all the game’s premise is all about an explorer — and we’ve seen a billion of those films before, the most famous of which is Indiana Jones. Of course the twist with Temple Run is what Warner Bros. is looking to exploit, with the story looking to centre around an explorer who is being chased by demonic forced after stealing an idol from a temple.

It won’t be the first game to receive a film adaptation, although it could be the most fitting — with other video games turned into films being generally terrible, such as Far Cry, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Blood Rain, Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark and Super Mario Bros, pretty much every Uwe Boll film. Thankfully it doesn’t seem like Uwe Boll will be involved with the Temple Run film, and with Heyman at the helm it could actually be decnet — after all you may know a film called Gravity he is also behind. It’s not likely we’ll see the film hit within the next year, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
