Sleeping Dogs hits Xbox Live Gold for free today

Xbox Live has bagged a goodie for its January freebie. From today until January 16th Gold subscribers can grab United Front Games’ Sleeping Dogs for free.

Come mid-month the deal changes and you’ll be able to nab Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light at no extra cost.

Sleeping Dogs failed to gather the sales that publisher Square Enix might have hoped for when it launched a few years back, but critics and fans seemed to like its open-world Hong Kong action. Meanwhile, Lara Croft was seen as a return to form for the Tomb Raider franchise, with seminal co-op gameplay.

Not a bad month of freebies overall. Let’s hope Microsoft can keep it up and start to compete with Sony’s PlayStation Plus service.
