Samsung Galaxy Round may just be a testbed for things to come

After months of endless rumours, Samsung revealed its first curved smartphone last week. But it turns out that the Samsung Galaxy Round may just be testing the waters.

Insider sources have reportedly told SamMobile that the Galaxy Round is going on sale to help test consumer interest and usability in the real world. That explains why only a limited number of units will be going on sale, and they’ll all be in the company’s home turf of South Korea. Still, for something that’s essentially a prototype, the £500-ish price tag is a bit of a tough sell.

If all goes to plan, then maybe there’s chance that we see the Galaxy Round head west. Right now the company has said it has no such plans for a release, which is a bit of a shame – the Samsung Galaxy Round may never be more than an image to us. We’re still holding out on the LG G Flex for our curved needs.
