The Nexus 5 hasn’t yet been officially announced yet, with that due to take place later this month — although that won’t stop us from speculating about a possible release date. According to Amazon Italy, the Nexus 5 could go on sale on October 30, given that is the date a protective case for the Nexus 5 will also go on sale.

We wouldn’t say this is solid evidence, and it may be the case of the case manufacturer guessing what date Google is going to release its smartphone, rather than having actual knowledge. If Google was to announce the Nexus 5 before the end of this month however, then it could be a likely release date, given Google’s short time between availability and announcement.

The Nexus 5 won’t be the only hit of the announcement pool from Google, with Android 4.4 KitKat also rumoured to be unveiled on the exact same day. If Google was to release the Nexus 5 before the end of October, then it’s likely current generation Nexus phones will be seeing an Android 4.4 KitKat update before then too.
