If you look at this week’s cinema releaes you might think that the future of law enforcement is cyborg police officers. In reality, it might be Google Glass.

The New York Police Department is testing out Google’s wearable device for work. Apparently the force has already purchased ‘a few pairs’ of the specs. They’re being tested with routine patrol work right now.

A New York law enforcement official told VentureBeat: “We signed up, got a few pairs of the Google glasses, and we’re trying them out, seeing if they have any value in investigations, mostly for patrol purposes.

“We’re looking at them, you know, seeing how they work.”

It will be interesting to see if this kind of use of Glass picks up. What kind of apps could be developed to help out the police?
