US carrier T-Mobile is pushing to update customers on some of its older network plans. Letters have been sent out to existing customers stating that they must upgrade to the new T-mobile plans soon.
The letter states: “In line with our larger focus to change industry norms and simplify the wireless experience for customers, we are reducing our total number of rate plans. For the vast majority of customers, their new plan will provide similar or better features at a comparable price. Maintaining thousands of rate plans is the norm in the industry, but it creates unnecessary complexity. Simple is better.”
Don’t want to update? Then you’ll be able to cancel a contract without the usual early termination fees, but don’t view this as such a bad thing. As we reported last week, the new T-Mobile plans have recently cut away charges for using data in 100 countries. They’ve also done away with credit checks pre-purchase, and instead use them to manage down payments on new phones.
