A new version of the Lenovo Vibe X3 has just passed certification in China, showcasing a completely revamped design which is a far cry from the X2.
The Lenovo Vibe X2 was a pretty device, with its layered metal finish and contrasting colours creating a stylish looking handset. When comparing it to the minimalistic design of most smartphones, it was a welcome change to see a manufacturer being a little unique. It’s successor has just passed through the Chinese certification process and unfortunately looks nothing like the design we previously loved. Lenovo has instead gone for a far more minimalistic approach, with what looks to be a single-piece, all-metal body. On the front, it looks like there could be a pair of stereo speakers, while the bezel looks suitably slim. If you’re a fan of understated designs, then there’s not a lot to dislike about the new Lenovo Vibe X3. However, we can’t help but feel that it’s playing things a little too safe.
Inside, it’s undergone some substantial upgrades versus it’s predecessor. It now runs on the latest version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and features a larger 5.5-inch Full HD display. The processor is a Snapdragon 808 which is backed up with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. There’s also a fingerprint scanner on the rear, directly under the camera sensor. In terms of the camera itself, the Lenovo Vibe X3 has an impressive 21 megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash. The front camera is equally impressive, with an 8 megapixel sensor that should be more than enough for selfie taking.
There’s currently no information on a release, though we expect an announcement fairly soon.
