Latest Sony Xperia emulates features of Sony’s top Alpha cameras

 Xperia 1V flagship available in late June for £1.299 to £1,399.

The phone has a new type of image sensor about 1.7 times larger than the previous image sensor.

Also launched is a new £449 or £399 mid-range Xperia 10 with a 6.1-inch OLED display and a triple-lens cam. The Xperia 10 is claimed to be the world’s lightest 5G smartphone with a 5,000mAh battery at 159g, it can offer 34 hours of video playback.

The big feature of the 1V is a sensor which produces double the low-light performance of the previous model.

The Xperia 1V camera has a 24 mm lens and an 85-125 mm (F2.3-F2.8) optical zoom. The phone has a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The 1V is powered by Qualcom’s Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Mobile Platform said to have 40 per cent better performance than the previous iteration Sony says the new sensor has three times the saturation signal level of a conventional sensor which improves images of dark scenes.

It is also equipped with many of the features of Sony’s Alpha cameras including colour presets and high-performance real-time auto-focus. Various colour settings are preset. Real-time tracking allows shooting with the focus on the eyes of a person or a specified subject.

AI depth analyses distance information, so even distant subjects can be clearly focused. High-speed continuous shooting of up to 30 frames per second with auto-focus and auto-tracking is another new feature.

The Xperia 1 V will be available in late June for £1399 or £1299. It will be available in black, platinum silver and khaki green. Customers who pre-order it will be eligible for Sony’s WF-1000XM4 earbuds worth £349.
