HTC UK pull Android 4.4 KitKat update after it breaks more than it fixes

UK HTC One owners have been temporarily stopped from downloading their latest OS update after a slew of user complaints.

Of those who downloaded the Android 4.4 KitKat update upon its release, many complained that it had severely lowered their handset’s battery life. It is unknown if this alone is the full extent of the issues caused.

The KitKat update was initially released in December of last year, and HTC One users have had a long wait for the update – news that they will have to wait even longer is most unwelcome. Even US owners had to wait until February, whilst it was just last week that it arrived in Britain.

HTC will surely hope to have the issues addressed before the (suspected) big reveal of their new flagship handset on March 25th.
