A curved screen iPhone 8 could be released alongside two other models according to sources close to Apple, with a release in 2017 speculated.

The curved screen iPhone would be the premium of the trio according to sources speaking to Nikkei Asian Review. The source is “familiar with Apple’s plans,” it will be similar to the curve screen devices made by Samsung. According to the source: “There will be a 4.7-inch model, another that will be 5.5-inches, and a premium handset that will be either 5.5-inches or larger equipped with a screen bent on the two sides.”

That’s all the source gave, with no mention on the detailing of the curved screen iPhone 8. It could resemble the galaxy S7 or even the new Note 7.

Nikkei also quoted an analyst who claims Samsung will be the screen supplier, shifting the Apple to using OLED displays. OLED displays are also used on Samsung devices such as the latest Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The rumour of Samsung and Apple partnering up like this has been heard before, with this rumour surfacing again, we could be seeing an iPhone 8 with better colour contrast.

It’s all speculation at the moment, the source doesn’t actually say it will be the iPhone 8 getting the curve screen treatment. But with the stated sizes, it can be forgiven to assume so. Apple are expected to unveil the iPhone 7 next month, with notable leakster Evan Blass claiming confidently, it will happen September 16th.
