The brand new C903 is the natural successor to the C902, retaining the 5-megapixel camera but in a sliding shell like that of its bigger brother, the C905. The C903 is also built on Sony Ericsson’s latest platform, giving it a TV-out capability, as well as other must-have features like an assisted-GPS receiver and integrated accelerometer to rotate the display automatically (and save photos in their correct orientation).
Although the C903 features an advanced media player that has many of the functions from the Walkman family of handsets, the C903 is all about imaging. The camera offers Face Detection for up to 3 people, Smile Shutter to automatically take the snap when everyone finally shows a smile, and BestPic to allow you to take multiple shots in quick succession.
All of this is then shown on its 2.4-inch scratch resistant display, or on a television with the optional cable. You can also share your photos with Picasa or Flickr with ease.
To keep the size down, the C903 does not feature a Xenon flash but makes do with a bright LED photo flash instead – like it’s predecessor. For the best all-round package, we think the C905 is still king (and, in mid-February, owners will be able to get a free firmware update to add Smile Shutter and other new features).
The C903 will be available during the second quarter of 2009 and will be available in a choice of colours; Lacquer Black, Techno White or Glamour Red (pictured).
