Xiaomi are a manufacturer that you might best know them for there range of mobile phones but Xiaomi also has an extensive range of wearables. In this review, we will be looking at the Mi Smart Band 4.

The Mi Smart Band 4 is an improvement on the Band 3 but continue to keep prices low as the band 4 is available for £32.99 via Amazon. Design-wise the Band 4 looks just like the band 3 but the key differences are a colour screen with higher resolution and they have also included workout-tracking making it perfect for the gym.

In the packaging you get the following:

  • 1x Mi Smart Band 4
  • 1x Wristband -Black
  • 1x Charging Cable
  • 1x User Manual

The band 4 has a 0.95-inch full-colour display as previously mentioned and also comes with a resolution at 240 x120. The screen also comes with an anti-fingerprint coating to make sure it always looks like that first time you use it and not a fingerprint in sight. The band is also lightweight at just 22g.

Along with the band you need to download the app Mi Fit this will allow you to you the band properly and for you to use all the features. You can also sync all the data to your google fit.

One of the features is that you have over 50 different watch faces to choose from meaning you can have a new look on your band every day.  Other features on the band include weather update, daily fitness stats, notifications, heart rate reading and workout monitor. Speaking of the workout monitor it allows you to monitor the following sports:

  • Running
  • Treadmill
  • Cycling
  • Walking
  • Weight training
  • Swimming

As for using it in the pool, you can even set the pool size and you can even wear it in the pool as you have 50-meter water resistance. I used it in the pool recently and was very impressed I just found it was a little difficult to use in the pool in terms of setting the swimming function when wet but i dried the band and then set it and got back in the pool.

What I really like about this is the fact it has the idle alerts you feel a vibrate of your inactive for an hour I did find this slightly annoying at times but I can see why it’s done. Xiaomi has also created a new feature that it locks the band once of your wrist which is a nice feature to include.

The band 4 is also useful when your sleeping and it will monitor your heart rate, however, this will drain the battery if using even when asleep. It will also offer recommendations on how to get a better nights sleep. In regards to the battery, I have been using this for 2 weeks and the band still got a decent amount of charge so this is a great addition to having a watch like this.

Overall, for a budget wearable, this is a very good product. Things I like is the colour screen which is an improvement on the Mi Band 3. I also like you can track the number of different workouts. The battery also good in terms of the time you can go without charging I have been using it for 2 weeks now and it was only charged when I got the band. The main thing I dislike about this device in the charging cradle it’s only small and am worried I will lose plus you have to take the tracker out of the band which can be a bit awkward and fiddly at times.

That aside it only takes 2 hours to charge then you can use it for weeks. The band itself was comfortable to wear all day. I just wish they would make available other colour bands as I had black and looked online and could not see any other colour bands available. So to conclude for a budget wearable you will be pushed to find a better product with the features it has at the cost.
