Jabra is an audio brand we are always excited to review due to the overall quality this brand produces time and time again. Recently we reviewed the Jabra Elite 75t and very much enjoy using them in fact I still use them as my go-to work buds.  Now Jabra has produced the Active version of these buds which are perfect for hitting the gym or any other fitness activity. Costing £189.99 on very.co.uk compared to the Jabra Elite 75t costing £169.99 from John Lewis

Jabra Elite Active 75T (Left) & Jabra Elite 75t (Right)

The extra £20 in cost gives you a few key differences such as:

  • Improved Ear gels
  • IP57 rated – Waterproof, Sweatproof & Dustproof
  • 2-year warranty
  • Up to 28 hours battery in the charging case with 7.5 hours for continuous use in the buds.
  • Rubber feel charge case for that sports feel

The Jabra Elite Active 75t come in 3 main colours:

  • Titanium Black
  • Copper Black
  • Navy
  • Grey – Available March 2020
  • Mint – Available May 2020
  • Sienna (Red) – Available May 2020

In this review, we have been given a navy pair to test out. Apart from the main differences, I have mentioned they are basically the same as the Jabra Elite 75t I have already reviewed. The Active version has the gym user in mind. The improved ear gels allow them to stay in your ears even when hitting the gym hard. I have recently joined a gym and I love using these in the gym as they sit in my ear securely the whole time within the gym. Jabra does offer you 3 pairs of eartips ( Small, Medium & Large) so you have the perfect fit for most users. This development of the eartips also provide some additional passive noise isolation they block out some of the outside noise but like the regular 75t, they don’t block everything out.

The Jabra Elite Active 75t has a slightly bigger ear tip (left) compared to the Jabra Elite 75t (Right)

The earbuds like the regular 75t have various functions when you press the buttons.

Like the regular 75t’s the controls are the same left bud lowers the volume and changes the track which pressed multiple times. If you press just the once you get the HearThrough mode which allows you to listen to music but hear your surroundings.

On the right bud that allows you to control the playback and manages phone calls as well. If you hold the button it will increase the volume and a quick double-tap brings your phone’s voice assistant.

I feel the key improvement and what you might consider that extra £20 is Jabra have improved the IP rating from IP55 to IP57. They can now be submerged in up to a meter of water without issue. Meaning you can keep these clean but I would not take them swimming.  The Active 75t also has Bluetooth 5.0 allowing you to keep connected at all times. Battery life is 7.5 hours for continuous use and with multiple charges in the case that brings you up to 25 hours total which is the same as the elite 75t.

Moving on to the sound quality and the sound is still excellent you get 6mm drivers in each ear and the bass is great deep but without affecting your track quality and balance. Moving on to the highs they are also excellent listening to Alice Merton No Roots the vocals are just so crisp when listening to that track.

Moving onto taking a call on the buds the Active 75t provide an excellent experience and feed your voice through perfectly meaning you do not need to raise your voice.

You can amend the sound levels by downloading the Jabra Sound+ app that has customizable EQ, as well as a number of user presets for when you are in different locations such as the gym or the train on the way home. The app also allows you to set the smartphone assistant.

So overall, Jabra elite active 75t are effectively just the sporty version of the elite 75t that we have already reviewed. If you feel having the extras like more secure ear tips, and a better IP rating then go for that extra £20 is worth it. If you’re just buying these for listening to on the commute home and general listening I would save the £20 and just buy the elite 75t.

Jabra now for a sport version of what is already a 5-star product.
