Cloud computing has become an important requirement for the efficient functioning of organizations. With companies investing heavily in the cloud IT infrastructure, it’s clear that the cloud will continue to make headway in the enterprise space in the years to come too. Gartner has forecasted that 80% of enterprises will have closed down their traditional datacenters by 2025 and will rely more on cloud-based services. That said, cloud strategy trends are going to hog headlines in 2019 as well. So, let’s take a look at some cloud trends that every business leader should know in 2019:

Cloud Services will grow exponentially

These days, many businesses are opting for Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) for the seamless functioning of their business operations. The flexibility and simplicity offered by these services are far superior to traditional services, as a result of which they are expected to grow in popularity in the coming few years. As per Gartner, Public Cloud revenue is expected to grow by 17.3% this year to a total of $206.2 billion. The infrastructure services (IaaS) is predicted to be the fastest growing segment of the market with a growth of 27.6%.

Data Containers

Data Containers, which provide a reliable data movement solution to enterprises, are expected to become easier in 2019. With the ability to store and organize virtual objects, and resolve the issues of running software while transferring of data from one system to another, it’s popularity is expected to grow. However, there is a downside too. While they are useful for transportation, they only work with servers having compatible operating system “kernels.”

Hybrid Cloud Solutions will be a Top Choice

With organizations having specific requirements, moving everything to the cloud can be a very daunting task. The Hybrid Cloud model offers a smooth transition by mixing the existing on-premises infrastructure with private and public cloud services. This allows companies to make a smooth transition to cloud at their own pace while being efficient and flexible.

Backup and Disaster Recovery will be a major concern

According to a study conducted by Spiceworks for the year 2019, Disaster Recovery and Backup solutions have been allotted 15% of the cloud budget, which has left even the budget of email hosting and productivity tools behind. This significant percentage is an indicator of the shared responsibility model that Public Cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure operate on. These cloud providers are responsible for the availability and security of the infrastructure.

Multi-cloud solutions will become popular

Multi-Cloud is going to be popular this year with a cloud evolution. With the help of Multi-cloud solutions users are able to control and run the applications, data or workload on any cloud, be it – public, private or hybrid cloud, depending on their technical requirements. It allows companies to have multiple private and public clouds or multiple hybrid clouds. They can all be connected together or independent.

Automation will be indispensable

With the increase in cloud adoption, organizations will be required to manage more applications and data in the cloud, turning system administrator jobs into a hectic and time-consuming job. Therefore, a need will arise for the companies to manage their cloud architecture with tools that can automate different processes. With the introduction of automation, cloud administrators’ jobs will be simplified by not just saving costs and money but also eliminating tedious manual processes such as provisioning, sizing or backup jobs.

Growing importance of General Data Protection Regulation

The growth in technology has given rise to serious security concerns. The introduction of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) has highlighted those concerns and the need to look after them. According to Forbes, 83% of enterprise workloads will be on the cloud by 2020. Therefore, serious consideration should be there of its security compliance protocols. It is for this reason; GDPR will become even more important in 2019.

Serverless Computing

Serverless Computing has become quite popular in the past few years and will continue to grow in popularity in 2019. It is a procedure utilized by Cloud users, who request a Cloud supplier charges for the PaaS (Platform as a Service) and a container PaaS (Platform as a Service) – as required. Under this system, the customers are not required to buy or rent services before and configuration is not required either. The Cloud provides the platform, configuration, and a plethora of other helpful tools for designing apps, and working with the data.

Conclusion

Cloud technology trends will not just dominate the present year but also the

coming few years as it continues to evolve. With the capability to provide better data storage, data security, collaboration, and ease like never before for the small business owners, it’s all about convenience, and streamlining workflow and helping the business become more efficient, flexible, productive, and successful. So, if your business is all geared for success, this might be the best time to switch to cloud-based services.
