YouTube have a announced their new service YouTube Red, which provides the YouTube experience with no ads. For a price.
The new subscription based service will provide YouTubers the option to pay $9.99 a month to completely remove advertisements from videos. Not only that, YouTuber Red subscribers will also gain a feature that YouTubers have been baying for since music videos blew up in popularity on the video sharing site. It’s the ability to play YouTube in the background. Which means YouTubers can now listen to music while looking at Facebook on your phone. It remains to be seen whether it is capable of playing videos when the phone is locked.
Subscribers will also get exclusive content, known as “Originals.” The move will have YouTube Stars like PewDiePie go in direct competition with Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, as users are given an option to pay for “Originals” or big budget studio programming.
“Originals” content will get funding from YouTube to create their content. PewDiePie will be producing a new series called “Scare PewDiePie” for “Originals.”
