The Xiaomi Mi4 is the latest flagship handset from China’s fastest growing manufacturer. It caused quite the disturbance in its homeland upon release, but Xiaomi is clearly keen to keep the hype machine rolling with of this latest video.

Instead of a standard drop test or laboratory stress test, Xiaomi has decided to show off the durability of its new handset in a more practical way. If your day-to-day life involves the handling of live crustaceans, that is.

The Mi4 is handed to a freshwater crab, followed by a Japanese blue crab, and finally a lobster, each of which does its best to grip, crush and scratch it within its mighty pincers. We’re not exaggerating either – crabs can apply up to 19,000lbs of pressure per square inch with their pincers, more than enough to break a man’s hand. When scratching and cracking are the main causes for concern with smartphone screens this little test actually makes more sense than you’d think.

Check out the video at the bottom of the page, and be warned that for anyone who finds crustaceans a little creepy this video is almost certainly not for you.
