OnePlus 3 Launch: How to watch live

The OnePlus 3 launch is only 30 minutes away and it’s set to be a pretty pivotal experience, with the whole show streaming live in virtual reality.

For those of you planning to watch the event, there’s a few things worth keeping in mind. Firstly, although it is a virtual reality event, there’s no obligation to actually watch it in VR. OnePlus is leaving it up to you, with standard links available via their landing page. You’ll be able to navigate around the video in full 360 degrees, though you obviously won’t get the full immersive experience.

For the VR experience, those of you lucky enough to get a free OnePlus headset will want to download the Android application. The app will work with most headsets as it’s not designed with any specific framework in mind. Those of you using a Samsung Gear VR (like us) or Google Cardboard should be okay, and we’ll probably let you know if things seem to be malfunctioning (at least at our end).

Once the event has finished, you’ll be able to buy the handset directly from the OnePlus virtual store, without the need for an invite like previously. We’d advise being on the ball if you intend to buy tonight, as stocks are notoriously limited. For those who miss out on purchasing one, OnePlus will be hosting pop-up stores in London, Berlin, Paris and New York where you’ll be able to pick one up while stocks last. CEO and founder Carl Pei is also expected to make an appearance at the NY store, though exact locations for these are yet to be revealed.

The OnePlus 3 is expected to be a pretty damn powerful handset, with a Snapdragon 820 and 6GB RAM among the specs that were recently leaked. We’ve got a story covering all this that can be found here.
