Video: Jony Ive discusses design in rare video

You may not see Jony Ive’s face very often, unless of course it’s at an Apple press conference, but we’ve just caught a glimpse of one of the rare instances that Ive ventures outside of the Apple bubble to speak about design in general — and he does it without mentioning Apple a single time, not one.

The video was done in conjuction with Sotheby’s and (RED), whose co-founder Bono also makes an appearance, to discuss a rather special auction in which the legendary designer teamed up with another rather famous designer by the name of Marc Newson.

The pair teamed up to design a collection of products which will all go on sale at Sotheby’s in order to raise money to fight against AIDS, turberculosis and malaria in Africa.
