Town of Nokia renamed Microsoft in prank

The Finnish haven’t been best pleased that Nokia’s devices division is to be bought by Microsoft and that former CEO Stephen Elop is going to get a sizeable payout for flogging it, but there’s no denying that they do have a sense of humour, with some pranksters changing road signs to the birthplace of Nokia, Nokia, and pointing people in the direction of Microsoft instead.

The new roadsigns aren’t permanent, with a sticker placed over the old signs showing the new Microsoft name, which means this rather simple, yet hilarious prank is completely harmless, as the Microsoft name can easily be removed.

Nokia may be a small Finnish town home to around 32,000, but it does have the pleasure of being the birthplace of Nokia, the world’s largest phone manufacturer until a few years ago.
