Tower Bloxx: New York game review

Putting a hat on a cat doesn’t make it Top Cat. Likewise putting a board game on top of the one-button gameplay of Tower Bloxx doesn’t suddenly make the game a strategy title.

The idea, as with all Bloxx games, is to build towering skyscrapers by tapping the screen when the swinging crane is directly above the previous floor. Exact matches start a combo timer, with further perfect landings adding to the resulting (presumably scared) tenants at the end.

To make things a little more interesting, New York includes a board game that sees you building specific towers next to each other to increase happiness in each tower. There’s only a limited number of moves for each section, giving some form of tension to this part of the game.

Neither section is deep enough to sustain play, but there’s still some fun to be had from the simple gameplay.
