The highly anticipated (and much leaked) Lumia 1020 has been revealed in New York today at a global press conference. The phone boasts a second generation 41 megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation, reducing blur and shake in photos, which Nokia promise will offer unparalleled picture quality.

Nokia have also been quick to promote the Nokia Pro Camera app that comes with the device and provides users with editing and sharing options for their pictures.

In a press release Nokia also touted the high performance microphone included with the phone, the Nokia Rich Recording which they claim will be able to cope with noises six times louder than conventional smartphone mics without distortion.

Phones 4U have begun taking pre-orders for the smartphone, confirming a release for later in the year with other retailers and networks expected to follow suit. Prices here in Britain have yet to be confirmed but US company AT&T will be offering the phone from July 26th at $299.99
