Apple has announced that their co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs has died, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The Apple website carries an image of Jobs on the home page along with a tribute from Apple.

“Apple have lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple”.

People can send condolences and messages to rememberingsteve@apple.com.

Alongside the many paying tribute today include one of Apple’s biggest fans Stephen Fry and President Obama.

Flowers have been left outside the Regent Street Apple store this morning in remembrance.
