Starbucks has announced free, one-click Wi-Fi in 650 UK cafes for phone, laptop and tablet users.

Previously, customers needed to purchase a Starbucks Rewards card which could be pre-loaded with money for purchases, and wi-fi access was offered as part of the deal. Now, the hassle of log-ins, Reward Cards and passwords has been removed.

What Mobile tested the service in a London branch of Starbucks, opposite Selfridges on Oxford Street, over the weekend. As one of the busiest Starbucks’ branches in the country, we found wi-fi access to be slower than you would expect but reception was good and the speed consistent.

The new move is seen as a response to many bars and independent cafes offering similar services – let us know how the service performs in your area…
