More Google Play Editions to announce today, this time for the Sony Z Ultra. Google has announced that the phablet is launching under the Google Play Store for $649 in the US.

The huge 6.4-inch display runs at 1080p and is powered by the good ol’ Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2.2GHz. As expected, this Google-enhanced edition of the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, making it the first piece of Sony hardware to do so. The company’s independent range won’t be getting the update until next year.

Other specs are as expected – 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera and a microSD slot. Looking for a Google-ized Sony Z Ultra? This is your man.
