Changeable covers are making a comeback, with Nokia already offering a range of handsets that allow you to give your phone a makeover by clipping on a new cover. Now Sony Ericsson is offering them with the new W508, a mid-range Walkman phone with touch sensitive music controls on the outer lid. It’s the successor to the existing W380 model.
The phone will come with one extra Style-up cover in the box, but more will be available to buy in the future. We’ve got a picture of the orange one (see below right), which is pretty bright to say the least!
The 3G/HSDPA handset has Shake Control to let you skip tracks at the flick of the wrist, and Gesture Control that allows you to mute an incoming call, or snooze your alarm clock, by merely waving your hand over the phone.
The inner display is the standard QVGA resolution affair (320×240 pixels), with a monochrome OLED one (128×36 pixels) on the outside. here’s also a 3.2-megapixel camera (without flash) and a 1GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory card included.
The phone will be released in the second quarter of 2009.
