Sony Ericsson launches Xperia X8

The Xperia X8 takes the user interface from the X10 mini and X10 mini pro, with the four-corner icon design for quick access to your favourite apps or tasks. It will also ship with Timescape and Mediascape for managing your social networking content and media.

Pencilled in for a Q3 release, the X8 sits between the X10 mini models and the flagship X10. The phone has a a 3.2-megapixel camera, 16.8 million colour, 3-inch (320×480 pixel) capactive touchscreen display and all the usual Android features. It will ship with Android OS 1.6 but it is likely to join the existing X10/X10 mini/X10 mini pro in getting an update to 2.1 later in the year.

The 3G/HSPA phone will come with a 1,200mAh battery, 2GB memory card (expandable to 32GB), stereo handsfree headset and a trial version of Wisepilot’s navigation software.

Colours will include White, Dark Blue/White, Aqua Blue/White, Pink/White and Silver/White although the colours available will be chosen by individual network operators that choose to sell the phone.
