Sony Ericsson has kicked off its 2011 sponsorship of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) with the Xperia Hot Shots web-based TV show that will follow six tennis players on tour around the world.

The event took place in Miami’s South Beach and launched the new Facebook page unveiled by brand Ambassador Maria Sharapova, to keep fans up to date on what the six players are doing over the coming year.

The chosen players are Bethanie Mattek-Sands (USA), Heather Watson (UK), Alize Cornet (France), Sabine Lisicki (Germany), Sorana Cirstea (Romania) and Dominika Cibulkova (Slovakia), who were all picked for their desire to connect with fans using social media.

Each player will be given access to the world of music, film, fashion and gaming, with the chance to win a Sony Ericsson support deal at the end of the year.

The public can participate with the Facebook page and find out more about the WTA tour, along with information on the new Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones.
