Sony Ericsson had already stated that the Xperia X10 would get an update to Android 2.1 at some point in the future, but we wondered if this would be changed to 2.2 following the announcement of FroYo and a raft of new features for Google’s latest Android OS.

Today, Sony Ericsson has made it clear that the upgrade will definitely be to 2.1 only. It will be released for the X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro as an over-the-air update.

In addition, in Q4, there will be further updates for the X10 to make it possible to connect the phone wirelessly to a suitably equipped television, as well as HD video capture (1280x720p) and some enhancements to the Timescape and Mediascape functions.

Hopefully following the update to 2.1, Sony Ericsson will give some indication of when, or if, we will get a further update to 2.2.
