Sony have collaborated with mobile payments company Boku, to allow users to add money to the accounts used to purchase content from the PlayStation Store and the Sony Entertainment Network.
Customers can now top-up their wallet through the Sony Entertainment Account Management website, PlayStation Store via their PS3. Sony customers will now have the option to select “mobile” as their payment option. By entering their mobile number, Sony will send an automated message inviting the customer to respond via SMS to confirm the top-up. The charge appears on the customers next phone bill or is taken from their pre-paid account.
Gordon Thornton, Vice President, Sony Network Entertainment Europe, said: “We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular.”
Sony have imposed a £30 limit on top ups but other network providers may impose further restrictions.
