Smartwatches have outsold traditional watches for the first time ever in the month of January 2016.

A new report from research firm Strategy Analytics states that for the first time, sales of smartwatches have surpassed that of traditional Swiss watches. The report states that there were 8.1 million smartwatches wold in 2015, compared with 7.9 million Swiss watches. Apple and Samsung lead the way in sales, making up 8 of the 10 shipments worldwide.

With smartwatch manufacturers in the midst of a major push to try and increase sales,  it seems to have had a knock-on effect of sales for traditional wristwatches. Shipments dropped 8 percent during January according to data obtained from Switzerland’s customs office, compared with the same month in 2015 where sales were up by 3.7 percent.
