Samsung goes to Solid Extreme

Samsung is to release its latest ruggedised handset, the Solid Extreme, through O2 and Vodafone later this month.

According to Samsung the device will be capable of withstanding a drop of 2 metres, submersion in water up to one metre and has a “high immunity to dust”, giving it an IP (ingress protection) rating of 57.

Aimed at extreme support fanatics and construction workers, the phone is designed to stand up to rough conditions and handle being used in noisy conditions such as building sites.

An “extremely loud” speaker as well as noise cancellation technology has been included to stop background noise interrupting conversations, while a one touch torch and rubber grip will come in handy if you unexpectedly find yourself potholing.
