Kitvision Observer Dashboard camera 1080P- £84.99 at Amazon.co.uk

At What Mobile we are no strangers to KitSound who have provided us with many great audio treats. Now is the turn of the sister company Kitvision with there own dash cam. The Observer Dashboard camera 1080P.

First impressions it’s a great value dash cam at only £84.99 via Amazon. This camera offers some fantastic features such as:

  • GPS
  • WIFI
  • Motion Detector
  • Auto Start
  • 1080P HD Video Recording
  • Parking Mode
  • Collision detection
  • Wide Angle View

The packaging for this camera looks great and it very informative and outlines the main features as well as what is included.

In the box, you get the camera, Mini USB to Normal USB cable that is 3m long adhesive pad on the GPS Module. I think having that cable was a benefit when using it in my 4×4 as it got a very large windscreen and then you can run the cable through nice a neat in the headline of your car.  Also in the box is a 12-volt charger that not only allows you to charge the camera but also an additional port for a phone charger or even a sat-nav. Last but not least you also get the user guide but the setup is very simple.

As mentioned this camera comes with some very cool features as mentioned above what I found as one of the best features was the parking mode this gives you protection even when the car is parked as with the use of the motion detection if a car is reversing towards your car the camera will pick that up.

This camera is also Wifi enabled allowing you to view footage on your phone. It’s also GPS enables allowing you to have a clear record of speed and location which would be great if you did have a crash on the motorway you could show the insurance all the relevant information required.

Another great feature of this is the loop recording which allows for 1, 3, 5 or 10 min recording on a loop to the Micro SD card that you have to buy separately, unfortunately. My advice for something like this invest in a 32G Micro SD Card and you won’t be disappointed.

Now when nothing is happening you will find the camera will just record over the footage but if something did happen for example an accident or you see a bad crash the G-Sensor technology would save that footage and store it and then the loop recording would just overwrite odder footage when nothing has happened. This is a great feature for this camera.

In terms of the camera itself, you get wide dynamic range which helps when you are recording at night and provides very clear footage due to the 1080P HD recording and is also full-colour recording. The screen is a 2.4 inch LCD display with the camera lens is a 170-degree wide angle view allowing you to capture everything in sight. A bonus of having this camera is its got auto start meaning when you turn the car on the camera ready for the journey ahead you simply do not need to do anything once set up. On the sides of the cameras is the following all carefully designed to make the camera look great:

  • Power input.
  • Micro HDMI slot
  • AV Out port
  • Micro SD Card Slot
  • Pinhole mic

Installation of this device was a walk in the park simply adjust the suction mount to best suit your requirement and plug the camera in and bingo. I did not need to adjust many of the settings only things like the time and date. You do not need to use the cable as the battery is a rechargeable lithium battery but personally, I kept the cable in the whole time I have been using this.

Once set up as mentioned you can customize the settings to suit your needs such as the:

  • Resolution
  • Loop Recording – As mentioned if you want 1, 3, 5, or 10 min recording you can also turn loop recording off if you want.
  • WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)
  • G-Sensor- Low, Medium or High
  • Exposure
  • Motion detection
  • Recording audio
  • Date Stamp

As mentioned this is a very simple set up and can be up and running in no time at all in fact if your, not one for changing the settings once you get in out of the box and plug in your good to go.  You can even bring up the menu when in use as it will overlay meaning you don’t miss a thing.

Overall, I really like this camera it performed even better than I expected and the features that make this well worth the money are the fact its Wifi enabled which allows me to view the footage. It also has the GPS built in meaning you can show the map location and the speed you were travelling.

Another great feature about this camera is the Collision detection with built-in G-Sensor and the Motion detector which for a camera under £100 was not expected so nice one KitVision.  The quality of the footage is excellent and even the night vision for a camera this price does a great job.

So for £84.99, this Dash cam gets 5 stars from us as I simply could not fault it and thanks to Kitvision for making me even safer in my car.
