Qualcomm charging ahead with a world first for wireless charging

Qualcomm has now given its Rezence wireless charging technology a major upgrade. The improvement will allow its charging pads to wirelessly top up smartphones with metal cases.

The Rezence wireless charging pads can do this by using a higher frequency that passes through metal much easier than QI, Rezence’s main wireless charging competitor.

This new feature means that smartphone manufacturers will have less trouble deciding whether they want to give their phones metal bodies or wireless charging capabilities. Manufacturers like Samsung have included both in phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.
