Pandora Android app gains Chromecast streaming, tablet UI

We might not yet officially have the Chromecast in the UK, but this story isn’t even one aimed at those of us on this side of the pond, with Pandora, the Spotify-like service which is currently exclusive to the US, Australia and New Zealand, updating its Android app with loads of new features.

Chromecast support is of course on-board, meaning you can wirelessly stream all those tunes from the latest Glee album to a bit of Marilyn Manson directly to your TV using Google’s inexpensive Chromecast dongle. It’s nice to see the $35 accessory getting more and more support, with Hulu Plus for iOS gaining Chromecast support last week.

The latest version of the Pandora app for Android isn’t just a small number change, but this is version 5 — meaning updated features aren’t just limited to Chromecast. Android tablet users will begin to recognise a completely new UI which is designed for tablets, rather than having to rely on the standard phone UI.

If you head on over the Play Store and find yourself not being able to use Chromecast, then hang tight– according to Engadget it’s not working for everyone just yet, nor is it officially part of the changelog.
