Nokia’s Treasure Tag will ensure you never lose your keys again

How much would you pay to never lose your keys again? Would you pay $30? Because that’s what Nokia is charging for their new gadget, the Treasure Tag.

In a first for a phone manufacturer, Nokia’s NFC/Bluetooth combo device will function solely with with Lumia smartphone handsets. Simply attach the small, colourful device to your keys (or anything else you find yourself regularly losing, for that matter), download the Treasure Tag app and forget your worries.

As well as the standalone app, the Treasure Tag location can also be displayed on HERE – Nokia’s own maps app. Potentially not quite as useful, since the Tag needs to be within a certain, undisclosed distance, but nice to have the option nonetheless.

Perhaps most cleverly of all is that the Treasure Tag allows you to also locate the phone which it is paired to. If you have your keys in hand but can’t find your Nokia Lumia, just press the Tag’s button and your phone will emit a tone to assist you in finding it (particularly useful if your phone is on silent).

Nokia have also stated that compatible third-party apps will be available on iOS and Android, and the device’s battery life is a sizeable six months.

A great idea and a neatly designed product, but the $30 ( £17.99) price point seems a little steep. Then again, what’s the cost of having a new set of keys cut every time you lose them?
