Nokia may be all in with Windows Phone, but reports last week claim that the company has at least considered a plan B option of switching to Google’s Android operating system.

Now according to Chinese Weibo account CTechnology Nokia hasn’t yet given up on Android and has reportedly built over 10,000 Android devices.

That’s a lot of devices to just leave in the warehouse to never be shipped, but it’s likely that Nokia will abandon the project as soon as its deal with Microsoft is completed, which is set to take place in November.

In all likelihood that deal will be successfully passed by both Microsoft and Nokia’s shareholders and we will never see an Android Nokia device.

The device was supposedly dubbed ‘Mountain View’ and was in the advanced prototype stage. Rumours have it that the device wasn’t a high-end Lumia, and instead was aimed at emerging markets.

According to the Weibo account:

The device, based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 8225Q chip, was being developed and tested by Nokia’s Beijing based R&D team, and was already at somewhat advanced prototype stage. In fact, before the announcement of sale, Foxconn has already manufactured and delivered a batch of more than 10 000 prototype Mountain View units.
