Following the announcement of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 OS, Nokia is set to take us in-depth with the new operating system and unveil its latest Lumia Windows Phones at Nokia World 2012 in Finland.

While Nokia has won plenty of critical acclaim for its original Lumia Windows Phones, it has struggled to achieve comparable sales, making the success of its new Windows Phone 8 handsets critical for the company.

With Windows Phone 8 looking like a strong upgrade of the excellent Windows Phone OS though, the odds are good that Nokia’s new range of handsets will be able to outdo the Nokia Lumia 800, Lumia 710, Lumia 900 and Lumia 610.

At least two new Lumia Windows Phones are expected to be seen at Nokia World 2012, and several code names have already been rumoured, including Nokia Lumia 910, Lumia 920, Lumia 950 and Lumia 1001.

But we’ll have to wait until Nokia World 2012 kicks off in Helsinki on 5 September to find out for sure just what Nokia and Microsoft have up their sleeve and to get a look at the new Windows Phone 8 Lumia phones.

Will Windows Phone 8 help Nokia get back on track with its new Lumia Windows Phones, or should Nokia just move over to Android and leave Windows Phone alone? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
