Nokia launches YouTube uploader, Lumia exclusive

Nokia has today addressed a concern that Microsoft and Google have failed to, by releasing a YouTube app which allows you to upload your recordings.

Whilst it’s not quite the plug we needed, with no ability to actually watch videos, it’s definitely a start.

Currently it’s only working on the Lumia 1020, but according to the description it should roll out to other Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices.

If you’re looking for backwards compatibility on Windows Phone 7.8 devices, then it’s likely you’re going to be out of luck — with only Windows Phone 8 listed as the compatible OS.

Also whilst it’s a useful app, there doesn’t seem to be a way to actually capture videos, only upload — meaning you’ll have to utilise the camera app then return to YouTube upload.

As this is just an uploader and not a viewer, Google shouldn’t necessarily have any grounds to have it removed, after all this works in its favour.

If you own a Lumia 1020, which we assume most of you don’t, then you can download the app here.
