Nokia build’s ’em big and beefy

Nokia has launched a range of rugged 5G devices for use in environments such as ports, mines, chemical plants, and offshore oil platforms.

The US-manufactured Android devices are rated IP 68 for use in remote or harsh conditions. They offer dual-SIM support, and the option to add an eSIM a user-swappable battery, a push-to-talk button, and support for remote speaker microphones and earpieces.

The devices are certified for use in places where there may be flammable atmospheres such as oil and gas, mining, and chemical manufacturing, They support various radio frequency bands and certifications for global use.

The phones can be configured and deployed over Nokia’s SaaS Digital Automation Cloud which allows admins to apply group policies and scale management to their device fleet,
