Nexus 8 outed on Google site?

Last week saw the Nexus 4 upgrade to the Nexus 5. Could it be that the next version of Google’s mini tablet also goes from Nexus 7 to Nexus 8?

As Phandroid picked up on, an image on Google’s Android site (above) shows a device that doesn’t quite look like the Nexus 7. It’s a mini tablet for sure, but there appears to be a reduced bezel on the top and bottom of the device, and it’s running KitKat OS. As the outlet speculates, this could be our first look at the Nexus 8.

Sure, it could just be a leftover image or something along these lines, but don’t forget that the Nexus 5 leaked in an Google ad a good few months prior to reveal. Perhaps a bigger device could be on the way in 2014?
