The Nextbit Robin has reached its goal and gone past it, with a bonus if it reaches $1,000,000.
New mobile phone manufacturer Nextbit have promised that every backer will get a quick charger with their order if they reach their stretch goal of $1,000,000. Given how fewer and fewer people are willing to wait for slow charging, it’s a decent incentive.
The Nextbit Robin’s key selling point is its full cloud integration. Based on a streamlined version of Android, it offers significantly more storage space – a full 100 gigabytes – than iCloud’s 5GB, and automatically uploads data and apps that you don’t access often to free up space on the phone itself.
The phone has a healthy 32GB of storage space by itself, and runs on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor chip. With a 2680 mAh battery designed to last all day, 3GB of RAM, 13 megapixel rear/5 megapixel front cameras, and a 5.2 inch screen, the Robin has the potential to stand up to mainstream heavyweights even if it can’t exceed them.
The Robin’s appearance is a kind of retro-80s design, with the phone coming in plastic-looking mint green and midnight blue. The mint green is oddly reminiscent of the colours used in childrens’ playthings, making the high-tech phone look like a toy.
As a bonus, the Robin also comes with a fingerprint sensor for extra security and NFC (contactless payment) capability.
