We’ve had Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Space, Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Go!, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Friends (if we’ve missed any then, as always, feel free to leave a very vocal and unnecessarily aggressive comment below): do you reckon you can handle yet another Angry Birds spin-off?
Developers Rovio are certainly banking on it, as they release the first few sparse details on the latest game in the absurdly popular franchise.
First of all there was this mysterious tweet, sent out yesterday from the official Angry Birds Twitter account:
– Angry Birds (@AngryBirds) February 12, 2014
Then, earlier today, the big reveal arrived via the its own new Tumblr account.
The new Angry Birds game will be entitled Angry Birds: Stella.
Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said of the new property, “Angry Birds Stella is breaking the mold by introducing strong, passionate characters who really stand for something, while adding plenty of action and reality into the mix.
“The Angry Birds Stella story will live and evolve across physical and digital, bridging them in fun and innovative ways. Stella and her friends are here to stay, with plenty of adventures ahead of them.”
Plenty of words to not say an awful lot, but that’s hardly a rarity when it comes to unveiling new games. Hed will surely let the hype build for a little while longer before letting us know the first thing about what the game actually is.
All you need to know for now is that it’s something new, it’s got a strong female theme running through it and, most importantly of all, it’s Angry Birds. Have they ever done you wrong before?
