It has  been a while since we have seen a Motorola product named Xoom, and we now know why — Motorola was banned from using it by Xoom Corporation.

According to a report by Engadget, Xoom Corporation and Motorola became entangled in a legal battle over the latter company’s use of the name — and Motorola lost.

Unfortunately all we know from this case is that Motorola is banned from using the name, with other details of the settlement strictly confidential.

We haven’t seen a tablet from Motorola in a while, but we now know for sure that if the company ever decides to make one again — it won’t carry the Xoom moniker.
